the sense of resemblance and spirit
Human attitudes towards the female body have changed in strange and unstable ways as a result of Internet opinion. In many cases, people are given the opportunity to show their bodies and to judge others. The body seems to have become an element of "representing oneself", and they are obsessed with using photo retouching apps, posing for the camera, showing their passion for fitness and beauty. Female's bodies are being forced to be sexualised by changing opinions and standards of beauty -- "damaging" their bodies.
As author Susan Sontag says in Metaphors of Illness, the body is not a battlefield. Being deeply involved in the beauty defined by others can place someone in an eternal war. Female should live in harmony with their own bodies and take control of the discourse on their own bodies. Through lumen print photography I have created two x-ray slices of the female body, one is my interpretation of my own body, which looks bloated, fat and full of flaws, and the other is the standard woman of today's popular aesthetic, which looks slim and elegant.Just as I am currently trying to embrace my own unique body, the visual contrast between the two types of bodies is intended to provoke women to deal with their bodies autonomously.
